For our routine, optional training programs (band, drill team, marksmanship) details on sessions are posted in the events calendar (https://www.44air.org/events/).
On Saturday, 28 Sep 2019, the squadron orienteering team will be going to the Southwestern Ontario Area competition in Cambridge. They will be working hard on the various orienteering challenges along with teams from other sea, army, and air cadet units throughout Southwestern Ontario. Best wishes for a fun and fulfilling experience for all members of the team! We look forward to hearing about your experiences!! Departure and return details have yet to be published. Be prepared for a very early Saturday morning departure time. Capt Shand, the Orienteering Coordinator, will contact the team with details as soon as she receives them.
Next Tuesday, 1 Oct 2019, will be our first Commanding Officer’s (CO’s) Parade of the year. All cadets with uniforms are to be in full ceremonial dress. Medals, white belts and lanyards may be worn for this parade. Those without a uniform are asked to wear dark pants, and a light-coloured dress shirt, preferably with a tie. The CO’s Parade starts at 7:00pm: parents are encouraged to attend.
Thank you to all cadets who remembered to bring in their cadet parkas this week. The Supply Officer, OCdt Lafferty, requires ALL remaining cadets to bring in their parkas at the start of the evening – Tuesday, 1 Oct 2019 – so she can verify if they fit, and develop a plan to issue proper-fitting parkas to everyone before the weather calls for it.
Friday, 4 Oct 2019, is our first Moose Lodge Dinner fundraiser. Cadets and parents wishing to volunteer are asked to contact our Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC), Mrs Gibson. All Cadets, parents, their friends and family are invited to enjoy the dinner, at $10 per person.
